  • Take the sari blouse that needs fitting. Wear it and note the measurement change at each eye fastener point. Or measure it referring to a well-fitting blouse. You can refer to the idea of taking measurements for blouse here.
  • Mark respective extra width to be added at the eye fastening towards centre front. Marking needs to be done at the wrong side.
  • Take a matching coloured old/unused sari blouse. Cut 2.5 inches fabric strip at the eye fastening side of the blouse. (You can take a 4 inch wide fabric band too instead of cutting a strip. But, it demands to sew eyes.)
  • Adjust the length at centre front dart on the cut fabric strip. Fold the three raw edges of the cut fabric strip to the right side. Press it as shown in the picture.
  • Keep it beneath the eye fastener side edge. The wrong side of the sari blouse and the right side of the panel must be facing together. Adjust the eye positions on the fabric panel to the desired locations. Pin it. Hem it. Then repeat sewing eyes as said in the previous method.
  • Try the fit!

Limitations

  • These tricks are applicable to slight weight gains only.
  • The adjustment ideas explained here are for the bodice only. Usually sleeves don’t need adjustment for slight weight gains.
  • You can use the tricks when you have an hour or two before getting ready.
  • Adding a strip is not a permanent solution to fit into blouse. This hint can be followed when you are anticipating to be back to your usual size.
